I don't feel that any of these images convey the virtue of boots as traction in delivering the work of the hips. The final image, and slightly that of Lars just before it, does convey the other virtue, of boots as weight to assist in the rolling up of the legs in the supine position. Surely, boots also have a way of underscoring one's consciousness of nudity and of sexual opportunity, in ways completely missing from topsiders or flipflops.
